Bodywork That Meets You Where You Are

A Client Story: “I Don’t Even Know What I Need”

When Laura first reached out, she said something I hear all the time: “I don’t even know what to book. Everything hurts, and I’m also just… stressed.”

She had tension in her shoulders, tightness in her hips, trouble sleeping, and a general feeling of being overwhelmed in her body. Instead of trying to fit her into one specific type of session, we started with an integrative massage.

That day, her session included:

  • Focused work on trigger points in her upper back

  • Gentle myofascial stretching for her hips

  • A few minutes of lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness

  • And time at the end with craniosacral work to help her nervous system settle

When she got off the table, she paused and said, “That’s the first time in a long time I’ve felt like my whole body was taken into account.”

This is the intention behind integrative massage—meeting your body exactly where it is, and adjusting in real time.

What Is Integrative Massage?

Integrative massage is a fully customized session that blends multiple bodywork techniques based on what your body needs that day.

Rather than choosing just one modality, we draw from a range of approaches, including:

  • Neuromuscular and trigger point therapy

  • Deep tissue work

  • Lymphatic drainage

  • Myofascial stretching

  • Craniosacral therapy

  • Reflexology

Every session is different, because every body—and every day—is different. This is one of the most requested sessions in my Greenville practice, simply because it allows us to do more within a single appointment.

Why Clients Choose Integrative Massage

1. You Don’t Have to Choose the “Right” Service

If you’re not sure what your body needs, you don’t have to figure it out ahead of time. We assess together at the beginning of the session and adjust as we go.

2. It Addresses Multiple Layers at Once

Tension isn’t always just muscular.

It can involve:

  • Nervous system stress

  • Fluid retention

  • Fascial restriction

  • Movement patterns

An integrative approach allows us to work across these layers instead of focusing on just one.

3. It Adapts in Real Time

Sometimes what your body needs changes during the session. We might begin with deeper, targeted work and then shift into slower, more calming techniques as your system starts to unwind.

4. It Balances Results with Relaxation

Many clients want both:

  • Relief from pain or tension

  • And the ability to fully relax

Integrative massage allows space for both in the same session.

5. It’s Ideal for Ongoing Care

Because it’s flexible, this style of bodywork works well whether you’re:

  • Managing chronic pain

  • Recovering from stress or burnout

  • Or simply maintaining overall wellness

What a Session Might Look Like

No two sessions are exactly the same, but here’s an example of how it can flow:

  • We start with a brief check-in about how your body has been feeling

  • The session begins with grounding, general work

  • From there, we move into more targeted techniques where needed

  • As things begin to shift, we often slow down toward the end to support integration and relaxation

Some sessions are more focused and therapeutic. Others are quieter and more restorative. Most are a blend of both.

How Often Should You Come In?

Because this work is so adaptable, frequency depends on your goals:

For Pain or Specific Issues

  • Weekly or every other week until things improve

For Stress & General Wellness

  • Every 2–4 weeks

For Maintenance

  • Monthly, or as needed

Many clients find that once they start with integrative massage, it becomes their go-to—because it continues to meet them as their needs change.

Final Thoughts

Your body isn’t one-dimensional—your care doesn’t have to be either. Integrative massage is about listening closely, responding thoughtfully, and creating a session that supports you as a whole person—not just a set of symptoms.

As one client put it:
“I don’t feel like I’m choosing a service—I feel like I’m being taken care of.”

If you’re looking for bodywork that’s flexible, intuitive, and tailored to you, integrative massage is often the best place to start.
